MINSK, 27 January (BelTA) – Belarus has proven to the entire world that its society is united and Belarusians are ready to defend their own homes. Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova made the statement at an extraordinary session of the seventh-convocation Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, BelTA has learned.
Natalya Kochanova said: “The events that happened in Belarus and abroad in the last few years teach us to appreciate sovereignty and independence of our country, to be united, to live in peace and accord, remember the past trials, and take good care of all the good things the current generation and the previous ones have accomplished. This is the only way for us to preserve Belarusian statehood and allow our children to live in such an excellent country that we live in.”
The head of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament stressed that without a shadow of a doubt it was the right decision to declare the year 2021 the Year of People's Unity and introduce a new state holiday – People's Unity Day. “It is important that the year 2022 is dedicated to historical memory. All of it is our bonds as a self-directed nation, which has proven the unanimity of the Belarusian society and the readiness to protect our native home – the Republic of Belarus – from foreign interference to the entire world,” she stated.
