Scientists of Belarus, Vietnam to develop cooperation road map

MINSK, 20 April (BelTA) - The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Vietnam Academy of Sciences and Technology are set to develop a road map for scientific and technical cooperation, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

The corresponding agreements were at the meeting between Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov and President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology Chau Van Minh. According to the parties, the road map should include promising scientific areas of mutual interest.

According to Vladimir Gusakov, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus attaches special importance to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation with Vietnam, and scientists of this country are traditionally among the closest partners of the National Academy of Sciences.

“The first step to strengthen our interaction can be the activation of work of already existing joint structures, in particular, the joint center for the development of technologies in instrumentation and engineering, energy and chemical products set up in 2012, and also the joint Vietnam-Belarusian technology transfer center and joint laboratory on laser physics, engineering and technology. If there is mutual interest, the parties can initiate the development of new structures, for example, the Belarusian-Vietnamese Tropical Research and Technology Center, which partner on Belarus' behalf will be the Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences. In the future we can already start working on a dozen new projects, including nanoindustry, composite materials and additive technologies, mechanical engineering, mechatronics and robotics, functional food products and medicines, a wide range of bio-products. A special role here should be played by new materials, which have the future in various areas of the economy,” said Vladimir Gusakov.

The parties stressed that Belarusian and Vietnamese scientists understand very well that the most important tasks of economic prosperity at the present stage can only be solved with the help of science and innovation. In this regard, scientific contacts between the two countries, in addition to the expansion of scientific ties, are aimed at solving specific problems of development of various sectors of the Belarusian and Vietnamese economies.
