MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) – We invite Belarus to develop cooperation in tourism, Governor of Russia's Astrakhan Oblast Igor Babushkin said at a meeting with Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin in Minsk on 2 May, BelTA learned.
According to Igor Babushkin, one of the new promising areas that Belarus and Astrakhan Oblast can tap into is tourism. The Russian region has great fishing opportunities and a lot of sights. “This could be interesting for Belarus. The beauty and sights of Belarus may be interesting for Astrakhans,” he said.
Humanitarian ties are part and parcel of the relationship between Belarus and Astrakhan Oblast, the governor added. “We hold culture and sports events, exchange visits of youth delegations, patriotic events,” the head of the region noted.

During his visit to Belarus, Igor Babushkin met with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko. The head of state offered the governor of the Russian region to learn more about Belarus’ capabilities during the visit and reaffirmed his commitment to developing cooperation in the areas of interest.
