MINSK, 7 November (BelTA) – Donald Trump is truly a fighter. The election campaign in the USA demonstrated it. Elena Ponomareva, Doctor of Political Science, Professor at MGIMO (Moscow State Institute of International Relations), shared the opinion with BelTA’s YouTube project V Teme [On Point].
Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has previously congratulated Donald Trump on winning the presidential election in the United States of America. The congratulatory message reads: “Results of the voting, which has been accompanied by unprecedented fighting this year, became an embodiment of your personal heroic feat.”
“Lukashenko knows modern politics like no one else because he has been part of it for 30 years already. He has lived through various political eras and has encountered various American presidents. I should note that [Donald Trump] did not recognize Aleksandr Lukashenko’s election in August 2020 as legitimate and did not congratulate him. But Lukashenko’s congratulations indicate that the president thinks about the future of his republic and can put his personal grievances aside,” Elena Ponomareva said.
Speaking about Donald Trump’s personal heroic deed, the political analyst recalled that he had survived several attempts on his life. “It has been said that more attempts will be made, that Trump will not live till the ballot day. Certainly, all of it can be described as PR efforts. But Trump is truly a fighter. Nobody has disregarded that. He is fighting like a gladiator in the ring,” Elena Ponomareva believes.
