MINSK, 1 August (BelTA) – The Russian embassy in Belarus received one of the ingots from the alloy of the Living Memory of Grateful Generations monument, BelTA learned from Aleksei Talai, a public figure, Paralympian, a motivational speaker, and a charity foundation founder.

An ingot from the alloy made by fusing coins from over 500,000 families was handed over by Aleksei Talai’s charity foundation as Aleksei Talai met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belarus Boris Gryzlov on 1 August. It is the very first ingot, which was handed over as an exhibit. Similar ingots will be added to the alloy of over 5 million coins for the sake of putting up a monument at Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow in the year of the anniversary of the Victory. The ingot contains some of the coins donated by the Belarus president and his family. The monument in Moscow will also contain coins from the Russian president, who also backed the idea when Aleksei Talai was awarded in the Kremlin on 30 May 2024 during a solemn ceremony. President of Russia Vladimir Putin promised to take part in the project.

The project to create three Living Memory of Grateful Generations monuments in Minsk, Brest, and Moscow continues. Jars for coins to be donated by children, worker collectives, families, and veterans have already been placed in over 50 regions of the Russian Federation and all the regions of the Republic of Belarus.

The collection of coins will continue till 23 February 2025. After that all the coins will be shipped to the Victory Museum in Moscow and preparations will begin for fusing the coins and adding them to the monument that will be erected at Poklonnaya Hill.
