MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) — A small village located in Volkovysk District has a name that sounds like the name of the U.S. president-elect Trump. Journalists of the Belarusian ONT TV channel visited the village and talked to the local residents, BelTA has learned.
What does Belarus have in common with the Trumps. There is a small village in Volkovysk District called Trumpy, almost like the last name of the U.S. president-elect.
There are only six residents in Trumpy. They live a quiet and calm life. The villagers have heard of Donald Trump, but they are sure that the U.S. president has nothing to do with their village.
"Why should we care about America? I will vote for my own, Belarusian president," one of the locals said.
She was supported by her neighbor: "I will vote for my president. We need peace, nothing else."
"We have nothing to do with the Trumps!" the villagers said. As true Belarusians, they welcome guests with open arms, treat them kindly and are always willing to talk.
