Refugees stuck at Belarusian-Polish border well-supplied with food

GRODNO, 29 November (BelTA) – Over 100 tonnes of aid has been handed out to the refugees, including 85 tonnes of food, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Education, Science, Culture, and Social Development Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Viktor Liskovich. The upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament has empowered the senator to coordinate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the refugees.

29 November is the 22nd day of the refugees' stay at the Belarusian-Polish border. They are staying in a transportation and logistics hub near the Belarusian border checkpoint Bruzgi. Viktor Liskovich noted that the refugees are supplied with everything they need.

The senator said: “We continue fulfilling the instructions the head of state gave during his visit here concerning the safe stay of the refugees. This weekend they were issued about 1,000 pairs of warm footwear, including men's, women's, and children's. Safety was maintained in the refugee camp in full. No violations were registered in this regard.” The field bathhouse is expected to become permanent. Bath-and-laundry accessories are available in sufficient amounts.

The delivery of humanitarian aid to the refugees continues. A total of 135 tonnes of humanitarian aid has been received so far. The refugees were handed out 109 tonnes of aid, including 85 tonnes of food, Viktor Liskovich noted. The handing out of warm footwear and blankets will continue.

Only the Belarusian side donates humanitarian aid. No foreign humanitarian aid was received this weekend.
