Refugees stuck at Belarusian-Polish border still want to go Europe

MINSK, 22 November (BelTA) – The refugees, who are temporarily staying in a transportation and logistics hub in Grodno Oblast, have no intention of staying there forever and still want to go to the European Union, BelTA learned from President's Aide – Inspector for Grodno Oblast Yuri Karayev, who is in charge of security and refugee accommodation in the logistics hub.

The official said: “A huge number of them still dream of going to the European Union. Those, who have given up hope, agree to return to the native country. Some people already say they are willing to stay in Belarus if they cannot go to Germany.”

“Most of them don't want to leave the spotlight of world mass media. Which is why you have to understand that they are going to remind about themselves one way or another. They have no intention of living in the logistics hub forever either.”

According to Yuri Karayev, the refugees are grateful to Belarus for aid and support. “They understand that the state and ordinary citizens, organizations help them with everything necessary out of human pity and compassion,” he said.
