GRODNO, 19 November (BelTA) – In an interview with BelTA, refugees from the temporary accommodation facility near the Belarus-Poland border said they appreciate the help provided by the Belarusians.
Several thousand refugees have been stuck at the Belarus-Poland border for 12 days already. Now they are at the temporary accommodation facility set up in the logistics center not far from the Bruzgi checkpoint.
“My wife, our two children and I moved here from the camp set up at the border. The conditions are much better here. We spend the night in warmth under the roof. We are provided with everything we need. There is even milk for the children. We want to thank Belarus for that,” one of the refugees said. He noted that everyone is looking forward to the resolution of the situation.
“I want to get to Germany because of my children. My wife and I could not find a decent job in Iraqi Kurdistan, although we are able and willing to work,” the refugee emphasized. He does not want to go back home.
Another refugee said that she had already been to Germany with her parents. Now they are trying to get there again. “We are not free-riders, as some think. Our parents worked hard there. My father was a construction worker. He carried weights in his arms to upper floors,” she said.
At present, there are about 2,000 people in the temporary accommodation facility in the logistics center. They are provided with hot meals, drinking water, bedding. A mobile shop is open there at daytime. There is round-the-clock medical support.
