GRODNO, 18 November (BelTA) – The refugees want to go to where they were invited to go – Germany. They have no intention of staying in Belarus, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Education, Science, Culture, and Social Development Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Viktor Liskovich. The upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament has empowered the senator to coordinate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the refugees.
On 18 November all the refugees went from makeshift camps at the Polish border to a temporary accommodation facility in a nearby transportation and logistics hub. They are provided with food, water, and warm clothes.
The senator said: “We interact with them and talk not only about current affairs but about the future, too. All of them want to go to Europe, to Germany, to where they were called to go.” He stressed that the Belarusian side had done everything for them: they are provided with a roof over their heads, food, water, and warm clothes.
“We've suggested they should stay in Belarus. We were ready to find jobs and housing for them. But they have a different goal. These people want to go to Europe and we cannot interfere with it. We hope this conflict will be resolved to the benefit of these people,” the senator said. He pointed out that the Belarusian side will continue providing the necessary aid to the refugees.
