Refugees from Bruzgi shelter display poster thanking Belarus for help

GRODNO, 16 December (BelTA) – A poster with words of gratitude to Belarus has been put on display by refugees in the temporary accommodation facility, BelTA has learned.

Refugees have been stranded at the Belarusian-Polish border for 39 days already. They are living in the temporary accommodation facility set up at the Bruzgi logistics hub near the border. At present, there are about 800 people there, 40% of them are women and children. Belarus keeps providing them with everything they need.

“People appreciate this. Thank you, we have a roof over our heads, food, water, warm clothes,” said a refugee from Syria who introduced herself as Noor. The appreciation poster hangs over her tent. It reads that Syrian refugees thank the president, the government and the people of Belarus for their help and support. “Thank you, Belarus!” reads another inscription.

“Our friend wrote the poster. Our lives would be tough without the help of Belarus. We do not lose hope of getting into the European Union. We will not return home, there is a war going on there, my father was killed. I want to start a new life,” the young woman said.
