Refugee: I want to reach Germany, to continue studying medicine

GRDONO, 23 November (BelTA) – My goal is to reach Germany to continue to study in a medical school and work as a doctor, one of the refugees currently living in the temporary accommodation facility in the transport and logistics center near the Belarusian-Polish border, told BelTA.

About 1,800 people are currently living in the transport and logistics center. Many of them are women and children. "Most of them, believe me, have the same goal. We are hopeful that the border will be opened and we will get to Europe. I intend to get to Germany," said one of the refugees. He is travelling to Europe with friends and two brothers.

"I'm a medical student. I want to continue my studies in Germany, I want to work," he said. According to the young man, he has family in Europe. One of the elder brothers already works as a doctor in Germany.

"I don't want to go back to my homeland. Things are very bad in Iraqi Kurdistan, regardless of whether you are a child, a student or a pensioner. No work, no money," the refugee said.

The man noted that now the refugees are provided with everything necessary. "Every day there is food, water, a roof over your head. The conditions are not bad. But we are still hoping to get to Germany," he noted.
