Refugee: I just want to find a job

GRODNO, 7 December (BelTA) - The main incentive for many people who try to get to Europe is the search for better living conditions, a refugee from the Congo told BelTA.

Refugees have been staying on the Belarus-Poland border for nearly a month. They have been living in a temporary accommodation facility at the transportation and logistics center near the Bruzgi border checkpoint. Most of the refugees are Iraqi citizens, but there are also people from other countries, including the African continent.

“I come from the Congo. I worked in Moscow as a tiler. Then I got an offer to go to Europe. I paid $2,000 for this. But the Polish border guards pushed me back. That is how I ended up here,” said the man.

“I left the Congo to find a job and improve my life. I do not want to go back to my home country. I just want to work,” the man said. He has not yet given up hope that Europe will accept refugees. He does not want to return home.
