Refugee from Iraq: Our future in Europe, it is not safe in our home country

GRODNO, 22 November (BelTA) - Our future in Europe. It is not safe in our home country and there is no work, an Iraqi refugee from the transport and logistics center near the Bruzgi checkpoint told BelTA.

Today, 22 November, is the 15th day for refugees at the border. The morning in the transport and logistics center, where the refugees are temporarily staying, is going as usual: people wake up, do their morning routines, and are getting ready for breakfast. One of the men went for a run around the transport and logistics center.

"In all conditions, I try to keep fit. Thanks to Belarus, we are now provided with everything necessary. But I hope that we are temporarily here, and the situation will be resolved in our favor,” the man said. He emphasizes that, like most refugees, he does not abandon his intentions to reach the European Union.

"Germany, France or another country... This is where I see my future. I want to work, I want to develop," the man said. He noted that he has a degree in physics and hopes that it will prove useful in a new place. "I won't go home, it is no safe there and there are no prospects for a better future," he said.

Now there are several thousand refugees in the transport and logistics center, among whom there are many women and children. They have everything they need. Belarus provides them with hot meals, grocery packages, and drinking water. Round-the-clock medical support is also available on the spot.
