MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) – Belarusian Defense Minister, Lieutenant-General Viktor Khrenin evaluated the readiness of Belarusian teams for the International Army Games 2021 this week, BelTA has learned.
The Defense Ministry press service quoted the minister as saying that this year the Belarusian teams will participate in the International Army Games for the seventh time. The games have become a respected platform for hosting such contests. Belarus has been participating in the games since their inception. Only five countries participated in the games early on. Today one can say one third of the world's armies participate in the games. According to Viktor Khrenin, it indicates higher training levels and the ability of the Belarusian military to compete as equals with military personnel of such giant armies as those of China, Russia, Iran, and demonstrate decent results. The Belarusian team became second last year. “As I talk to our guys now, I can see their spirits are high. They are intent on keeping up and maybe improving their results,” he said.
According to the source, Belarus is one of the few countries that use draftees in the games. “It indicates the high level of training of our guys. This year Belarusian military personnel will participate in 27 out of 34 contests. It is the highest number of contests we participate in so far. Belarus will host the contests Sniper Frontier, Polar Star, and Confident Reception,” the defense minister said. It will be the first time Belarus will welcome military personnel from Laos, Mali, and Saudi Arabia. The number of teams participating in Sniper Frontier will be doubled in comparison with last year, which means there is a strong interest. “Certainly, everyone wants to demonstrate high readiness standards and compete with our soldiers. Because we've traditionally demonstrated excellent results during the Sniper Frontier contest in 2020 and 2019 and during the Confident Reception contest, which was held last year for the first time. This year we see and analyze the level of training of military personnel from various parts of the world and see that this level is rising. We have something to show. Our guys have gone through a serious selection process and have been rigorously trained,” the official said.
According to the source, the training of military personnel for the International Army Games is part of the standard training process. The defense minister was convinced the Belarusian team will demonstrate excellent results. He wished them every success.
This week the defense minister met with several teams that will represent Belarus during the International Army Games 2021. Viktor Khrenin evaluated their training levels and wished them every success. He will meet with other teams next week.
Teams from all over the world are already in transit to the venues where the contests will be held.
