Putin: The unified electricity market in the Union State will help reduce prices for end consumers

MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) - The development of the unified electricity market in the Union State will help reduce prices for end consumers, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Minsk on 6 December, BelTA has learned.

The signing of the relevant agreement is one of the items on the agenda of the session of the Supreme State Council.

“The parties are developing a single electric power market. This decision will reduce prices for end consumers both in Russia and Belarus. In my opinion, it is of high importance for the utilities and industrial enterprises,” the Russian leader said.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant built by Rosatom is operating on a scheduled basis, he said. “The total power generation at its two units has exceeded 36 billion kilowatt-hours. This includes more than 14 billion this year, which is 20% higher than the amount generated in 2023. This is a good indicator,” Vladimir Putin added.
