Putin invites Lukashenko to celebrate 80th anniversary of Victory in Moscow

MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) - Russian President Vladimir Putin invited Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to Moscow to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Vladimir Putin voiced his invitation at the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Minsk on 6 December, BelTA has learned.

“Next year we will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. It is important that both Russia and Belarus remember and sacredly honor the feat of our fathers and grandfathers, who fought shoulder to shoulder against Nazism. We will certainly continue to do everything to ensure that future generations do not forget about the cost of peace and freedom,” the Russian leader emphasized.

He invited Aleksandr Lukashenko to attend the anniversary celebrations in Moscow on 9 May 2025. “We have also invited military units from Belarus to participate in the military parade on Red Square,” Vladimir Putin said.
