Pushilin names areas for Belarus-DPR cooperation

MINSK, 19 September (BelTA) - The Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) is ready to develop economic and humanitarian cooperation with Belarus, DPR head Denis Pushilin told the media following the meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 19 September, BelTA has learned.

“Today’s meeting was an opportunity to take stock of what has been done following the previous meeting (there was an agreement on economic interaction, cooperation in the humanitarian sector). A lot has already been done, and a base has been developed for the next steps,” Denis Pushilin said.

According to him, the humanitarian component - the organization of recreation for children from Donbass – is a primary one. Belarus regularly hosts children from the DPR and the LPR, for whom such trips are an opportunity not only to check their health and undergo necessary treatment, but also to get away from hostilities.

“We can develop cooperation between the youth. Several forums have already taken place in Belarus and the Russian Federation, and they bear fruit. Peers understand each other much better. Our young people have something to talk about pseudo-democracy, foreign “values”, to draw comparisons,” the DPR head said.

As for economic cooperation, Denis Pushilin said that the Donetsk People's Republic is implementing a huge construction project, and the DPR has certain needs in this regard, including in construction and utilities equipment.

“We also require a certain repair base, because there is BelAZ equipment at our open pits and this equipment needs repairing. The Republic of Belarus is ready to provide repair and technical support, and this is a point of mutually beneficial cooperation,” Denis Pushilin said.

Another point of contact is the supply of Belarusian food products to the DPR. “We have certain demand here, as well. This work is underway,” the head of the Donetsk People's Republic added.
