MINSK, 21 July (BelTA) - Publishing projects for local historians, tour guides and tourists have been presented in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
Such books are published in three languages - Russian, Belarusian and English as they are meant both for domestic and foreign readers, said Anzhela Sadovskaya, a senior specialist with the Belarus publishing house. One of the latest projects of the Belarus publishing house is the illustrated book “Under the Belarusian Skies” by famous photographer Anatoly Kleshchuk. This is the fourth edition with completely new photographs that capture the beauty of nature, flora and fauna of Belarus in different times of the year. Recently, the Belarus publishing house has released the book Mir. Castle, a richly illustrated edition that can make a great gift for visitors to the country.
“Anatoly Fedoruk's book “Old Manors of Grodno Region” saw the light of day a month ago. “It is a true bestseller," Anzhela Sadovskaya said. “We receive from 10 to 15 calls every day from people asking where to buy this edition. It's a sequel. The first part was released in 2014.” Great research work lies at the heart of Anatoly Fedoruk's books. The book will be very useful for guides who develop routes around this region.
More than 10 books have been published in the series “Traveling Around the Native Land” dedicated to the Year of Native Land. The series is expected to continue.
Anzhela Sadovskaya also recommended the guidebook “Minsk. A Reference Book for Tourists” by Nikolai and Evgeny Chirskys, the two-volume book “Minsk. The Heritage of the Belarusian Capital 1918-2018” and “Minsk. The Heritage of the Old City” by Viktor Korbut and Dmitry Lasko. Another edition worthy of attention, according to Anzhela Sadovskaya, is the guide “Belarus Invites” translated into English, French and Chinese. It tells about the sights and architecture of all regions of the country, and also the Belarusian cuisine. There is no doubt that the postcard sets “Minsk” and “Belarus” will be of great interest to tourists.
Olga Vanina, the director of the Petrus Brovka Belarusian Encyclopedia publishing house, highlighted Nikolai Pivovar's book “The Manors of Vitebsk Region”. This is a reference book that provides a map of the old manors in the region and also tells about their condition. The author worked on it for about 10 years. “The book is well illustrated, but we did not aim to make it a presentational edition. It caters for guides, for those who work with children, cultural institutions, and people who are interested in local sights,” she added.
