Protasevich comments on reports about his combat experience in Donbass

MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) – In an interview to the ONT TV channel Roman Protasevich commented on reports alleging his involvement in hostilities in the area of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) in Ukraine, BelTA has learned.

Roman Protasevich said that he spent only a month and a half in the ATO zone in Ukraine in 2014 and never took part in hostilities. He was a member of the Belarusian Pogonya unit, which was attached to the Azov battalion. According to the young man, the photographs posted on the internet were taken on firing grounds.

He also refuted statements that he had made a long ago about his participation in the battles in Donbass. Roman Protasevich said that he just pretended to be a ‘brave soldier' and regretted that he had anything to do with those events.
