MINSK, 30 August (BelTA) – In the course of cooperation Belarus and China have made considerable progress in education, science, innovations, in the implementation of projects promoting the interests of the two states, and international cooperation, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, Deputy Chairman of the High-level Committee on Cooperation between the Legislative Bodies of Belarus and China (on Belarus’ side) Vadim Ipatov told the media on 30 August, BelTA has learned.
On 30 August, Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko held a meeting with outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Xie Xiaoyong.
“Diplomatic relations between Belarus and China were established on 20 January 1992. This is a short period of time in terms of the history of the state, but during this time Belarus and China have gone a long way in establishing relations. Thanks to the deep respect and friendship of our leaders – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Chinese President Xi Jinping - our relations have acquired the character of all-weather and all-round strategic cooperation,” Vadim Ipatov said.
According to the vice speaker, the official visit of the Belarusian parliamentary delegation to China took place in May 2024. The visit included the first meeting of the High-Level Committee on Cooperation between the Legislative Bodies of China and Belarus. “Once again we discussed all the issues of inter-parliamentary interaction as well as the cooperation in education, tourism, protection of sovereignty, independence and other matters,” he said. “Today's meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Xie Xiaoyong is important for taking stock of the results reached during his diplomatic mission in our country not only in the inter-parliamentary field, but also in other areas, as well as for outlining ways to further our interaction in the implementation of the plans that Belarus and China set for themselves.”
“Today we can say that we have made great achievements in education, science, innovations, in the implementation of projects related to the promotion of the interests of our states, and international cooperation. We have become a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The People's Republic of China has also made an important contribution to this,” Vadim Ipatov added. “Therefore, once again, we need to compare our views and outline plans for the future”.
