MINSK, 11 May (BelTA) - Africa is developing rapidly, it is the continent of the future, President of Guinea-Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embaló said on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA learned.
"I fully concur with President Lukashenko. Africa is really the continent of the future today. I must say, a big continent, which is developing rapidly today," Umaro Sissoco Embaló said.
According to him, AI development poses potential dangers. "The whole economic approach is changing. Who knows, perhaps in five years artificial intelligence will completely surpass humans," he noted. “It is important for us to make joint steps in different areas: in commerce, technology and cooperation."
At the same time, the president of Guinea-Bissau noted that there are things that will always be in demand. In this regard, he noted that his country was very interested in Belarusian farm machines.
Belarus and Guinea-Bissau enjoy good relations which date back to the era of the Soviet Union. "Our people went to the USSR for education. Sharing this history, we are discussing ways to renew these relations, to create a more fertile ground for cooperation," the president noted. “President Aleksandr Lukashenko and I talked a few years ago about organizing my visit to Belarus. We have a history of good relations. We have met many times in Russia, usually as part of the Victory Day celebrations.”
Continuing on the theme of this important date and calls from the West to stop doing so, Umaro Sissoco Embaló said his country also remembers heroes and honors their memory during national holidays. "We should not listen to other people's opinions. Every country has its sovereignty, its history and the right to celebrate what it deems fit," he said.
