Practical part of computer-assisted CIS air defense exercise begins

MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) – The practical part of the computer-assisted command post exercise of the CIS joint air defense system Regional Security 2018 has begun, BelTA learned from Chief of the Air Force and Air Defense Command of the Armed Forces of Belarus Igor Golub on 15 August.

The exercise is taking place at a computerized secondary air force and air defense command station, which is part of the Belarusian-Russian joint regional air defense system. The purpose of the exercise is to prepare and deploy troops (forces) of the Belarusian-Russian joint regional air defense system in the Eastern Europe collective security region.

According to Igor Golub, the second stage of the exercise will last for more than a day (from 9:00 on 15 August till 13:00 on 16 August). “It is the first time this format has been used for the exercise, but every time the conditions of the situation will become more and more complicated,” the officer said.

A team to support the work of the commander of the Belarusian-Russian air defense system has been set up. They are using automated workstations in the secondary air force and air defense command station, which has a set of simulators to train and improve skills of tactical officers in addition to hosting computer exercises, said Sergei Trus, Chief of the General Staff, First Deputy Chief of the Air Force and Air Defense Command of the Belarusian army.

A software package developed by Belarusian specialists and used by the Belarusian army is being used to process graphic documents inside the local area network. A tactical engagement simulation system named Svisloch is used to judge the effectiveness of the decisions being made.
