MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) - Pope Francis has appointed a new Apostolic Nuncio in Belarus. Msgr. Ignazio Ceffalia became the new Apostolic Nuncio in Belarus, BelTA learned from the website of the Roman Catholic Church in Belarus.
The appointment was announced on 25 March as Catholics celebrate the Feast of the Annunciation.
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Msgr. Ignazio Ceffalia, nunciature counsellor, as apostolic nuncio in Belarus, at the same time elevating him to the titular see of Fiorentino, with the dignity of Archbishop, the Apostolic Nunciature in Belarus reported with reference to the official sources of the Holy See
Msgr. Ignazio Ceffalia was born in Palermo on 28 April 1975. He was ordained a priest on 6 August 2003. He graduated in canon law.
He entered the Holy See diplomatic service on 1 July 2006, and has served in the apostolic nunciature in Ecuador, Thailand, the Permanent Mission to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, the Section for Relations with States and International Organizations of the Secretariat of State, and finally in Venezuela.
