MINSK, 9 October (BelTA) – The call by a Ukrainian MP to move the war to Belarus is probably not his own thoughts but a kind of signal, a ‘leakage’ of what is being discussed, German political scientist Vladimir Sergiyenko said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel.
Earlier, Oleg Dunda, a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from the Servant of the People party, said Ukraine should move the war to Belarus. He assumed that if a small contingent of Ukrainian troops enters Belarus, the Belarusian army would lay down its weapons. The MP did not explain the reasons for this assumption.
"There are two ways how to deal with such statements. Either treat such people as political schizophrenics, or take such statements seriously. It is quite possible that it is not his thoughts, but a ‘leakage’ of what is being discussed," Vladimir Sergiyenko said.
He noted that in both cases people who make such statements should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. "He is a warmonger, wants the Belarusian people to be killed. So, let him answer for his words," he emphasized.
