MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) – Belarus' visa waiver for citizens of 35 European countries is a wonderful bridge connecting ordinary people, Polish political scientist and publicist Tomasz Gryguć said in an interview with BelTA.

“The decision of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to allow visa-free entry into Belarus for citizens of 35 European countries is an excellent move. The authorities of some European countries are afraid of this. This is down to the fact that any foreigner, be it French, Dutch, Norwegian, Spanish or Pole, having arrived in Belarus, will immediately realize that this is a normal country. A country with friendly people, a country where you can feel safe and comfortable. Indeed, Belarus is a beautiful European country,” said Tomasz Gryguć.

The publicist recalled that for some time now the Poles have been taking advantage of the opportunity to travel to Belarus without visas. “This is a wonderful bridge connecting ordinary people. Poland, of course, is doing everything to make this difficult by closing and opening border checkpoints. Lithuania is following in the footsteps. It wants to make it difficult for Belarusians to go to Poland or for Poles to get to Belarus due to long queues. It is a shame that Belarus-Poland relations have gone downhill and the blame for this goes to Warsaw,” he believes.
