Polish politician: Not all Poles agree with Warsaw politics

GRODNO, 25 April (BelTA) - Not all Poles agree with the policy pursued by the authorities of the Republic of Poland today, Polish politician, head of the Front party Krzysztof Tołwiński said at the dialogue platform that discusses the realities and prospects of Belarusian-Polish cooperation as a basis for interregional cooperation at the present stage, BelTA learned.

When asked whether it is possible to build business relations between Belarus and Poland in the current situation, Krzysztof Tołwiński said: “The Polish-Belarusian relations are at their worst. It was hard to assume that these relations would be so bad. A so-called bottom, a complete collapse… What else can await us?”
“We already have a border conflict. I am speaking as a Pole, as a Polish politician. This is a conflict generated by the authorities of the Republic of Poland, by my state with the support of my society. However, if Poles had rebelled against such decisions of the Polish authorities, this border conflict would not have happened. What else could threaten us? After this critical point, after crossing this critical line or a de facto border war, we may face the next stage - the so-called direct conflict, which is, in fact, a precursor to war,” the Polish politician said.

Krzysztof Tołwiński emphasized that today's meeting was necessary. “First of all, to convince you, the Belarusian side, that not all Poles, not all representatives of the political class agree with what the authorities of the Republic of Poland and my country are doing today. This is a very concrete signal for the Belarusian authorities and for the Belarusian society,” he emphasized.

“We realize that the only problem between us - Poles and Belarusians - is politics. If we want to change this policy, it is the Polish side that should do the work. It is us, the Poles, who should make this policy national. Because in fact there are no obstacles between us. Hence our economic cooperation,” Krzysztof Tołwiński stated.

With a view to intensifying Belarusian-Polish cooperation, establishing new contacts and renewing the existing ones between business of the two countries, the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee with the support of the Association of Polish Business in Belarus organized a dialogue platform to discuss the realities and prospects of Belarusian-Polish cooperation as a basis for interregional cooperation at the present stage.
