MINSK, 14 September (BelTA) – Riots in Belarus were supported in three main ways depending on their stage, Polish politician, political expert and publicist Mateusz Piskorski told the STV TV channel, BelTA has learned.
In his words, the situation in Belarus is managed from outside. “I do not think that this operation is coordinated from Warsaw. It is most likely to be the subcontractor of this project. Warsaw traditionally performs the role of a geopolitical outpost of the USA in Eastern Europe and in the post-Soviet space. We saw it in other former Soviet republics, including Ukraine several years ago and earlier in Georgia. Poland has a traditional geopolitical role, which is to assist the plans and tasks coming from Washington. These are not independent decisions of the Polish government,” Mateusz Piskorski said.
Various types of support of destabilization plans in Belarus are most likely to be exercised by NGOs, rather than government agencies of Poland. “There are three main types of support of post-election riots that were implemented at various stages in Belarus. The first type of support is sending instructors to Belarus. Some of them represent groups supported by various Soros funds. Representatives of these groups in Minsk did not hesitate to tell Polish mass media that they distribute instructions to opposition members and protesters. The second type of support is sending militants – Polish nationals – to Minsk. These militants had certain experience, including the experience of taking part in hostilities in the east of Ukraine. By the way, they were linked to certain neo-Nazi groups in Poland and Ukraine,” the political analyst said.
He emphasized that the most dangerous type of interference in Belarus' domestic affairs is through Telegram channels. “I think that no one has doubts that this Telegram channel is not administered by one young man, a 22-year old citizen of Belarus who came to Poland as a student. It is teamwork of rather professional PR specialists, people who have certain experience in conducting information and disinformation operations. There are certain financial investments. I think that this is the most dangerous type of interference in Belarus' domestic affairs,” the politician concluded.
