GRODNO, 25 April (BelTA) – The budget deficit, ill-considered military spending of taxpayer money pose a threat to Poland, Polish politician, head of the Front party Krzysztof Tołwiński said at the dialogue platform that discussed the realities and prospects of Belarus-Poland relations as a basis for interregional cooperation at the present stage, BelTA has learned.
Speaking about relations between Poland and Belarus, Krzysztof Tołwiński noted that the Belarusian state relies on a strong economy and sticks to its own development path. “As a member of the government of the neighboring Podlaskie Voivodeship, as a former deputy minister of the state treasury, I can see economic successes of the Republic of Belarus. On the other hand, if we talk about our country, specifically its budget, I should say we are looking at the collapse of public finances,” he said.
“I have recently used the following metaphor: an orchestra is playing, but the Polish budget is dancing. And indeed, the budget deficit, ill-considered military spending at the expense of society pose a serious threat to our country,” the politician remarked.
Krzysztof Tołwiński emphasized that each state should sort out its issues on its own. “Belarusians should not get involved in [Polish] political problems, while Poles should not interfere in the internal affairs of the Republic of Belarus. Though, unfortunately, this is exactly what is happening today. For example, two days ago, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Mr. Radosław Sikorski made a public speech on the foreign policy of the Polish state. In this speech he said that he would democratize, that is, interfere in the internal affairs of his neighbor - the Republic of Belarus. I cannot think of a more politically hostile, anti-state move against the Polish state than this statement by the minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of Poland,” Krzysztof Tołwiński said.
“Therefore, we must resolve our problems. The Polish people, the Poles should wake up and say that we must stop this provocative war, stop this aggression against our neighbor, a neighboring state, against the fraternal Belarusian people,” concluded Krzysztof Tołwiński.
