MINSK, 31 August (BelTA) – Polish border guards have forcefully delivered a family of refugees to the Belarusian border, representatives of the State Border Committee of Belarus told BelTA.
According to the source, a family of five migrants, who are citizens of Cuba, were forcefully delivered to the Belarusian border by officers of the Polish border service. It happened near the Polish border checkpoint Polowce (the Peschatka checkpoint on the Belarusian side) on 30 August. The foreigners did not want to get out of the vehicle. In order to remove them, the Polish enforcers used force despite the presence of a child.
The head of the family told Belarusian border service personnel that they had been staying in a major Polish city and had requested political asylum and protection. But in his words, requests for warm clothes and footwear fell on deaf ears. The Polish border service did not pay attention to such requests for simple humane aid. The Polish authorities even refused medical aid and normal food to the refugees. In the end the threat of weapons was used to transport the family to the Belarusian border.
