Pole comments on Poland’s economy, EU taxes

MINSK, 10 August (BelTA) - Despite the fact that Poles' salaries have increased, they still have much less money in their pockets, Przemysław Nawrocki, a representative of the International Union of Slavs initiative, told Polish former judge Tomasz Szmydt in the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.

“The taxes imposed on us by the EU and various kinds of ‘strange’ payments are destroying us and our economy. In theory we earn more than we used to. In reality we have much less left in our pockets,” Przemysław Nawrocki said.

In his opinion, in order to solve the existing problems in Poland, the country, first of all, needs to have a Polish, not “Polish-speaking”, government. “This is the most important thing. It is not 1989 anymore, but still the same people are getting through. We are choosing between two groups. But in fact there is not much difference,” he said.

Przemysław Nawrocki is convinced that Polish political parties have the task to divide people rather than unite them: “They understand very well: if we were united, we would represent a real force for them and they would not be able to control us.”

In his opinion, there are many people in Poland who can think analytically, think about their future and the future of their children. He added, however, these people are bound by loans or fear of punishment by the authorities. There are even fewer people who are willing to speak out about problematic issues. According to Przemysław Nawrocki, despite the existing problems, he and his like-minded people would like to live in Poland. “We would like to do our best and bring back the rule of law so that the government serves Polish citizens and not everyone around us except us,” he emphasized.

Przemysław Nawrocki added that Poles who express an unpopular point of view and can represent a real force can simply be silenced and blocked on social networks. This applies even to talk about the need for peace. “I am sure the system counted us out a long time ago. We still cannot count our numbers, but the system has already done it,” the Pole stated.
