Poland to start building wall on border with Belarus on 15 December

MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) - The Polish authorities are set to launch the construction of a wall on the border with Belarus on 15 December, Senator Krzysztof Mroz said in an interview with the Polish television, RIA Novosti informs.

“The construction of the wall will start on 15 December. We are completing the selection of contractors,” said Krzysztof Mroz.

Minister of the Interior and Administration of Poland Mariusz Kaminski said earlier that the construction of the wall on the Polish-Belarusian border would be conducted in three shifts 24/7. He said that the wall would be 180km long and 5m high. The wall will be fitted with electronic equipment: night and daytime vision cameras, motion sensors.

Poland had adopted a law to build a wall on the border with Belarus. Currently, there is a temporary barbed wire fence in place.
