MINSK, 17 July (BelTA) – Prime Minister of Cuba Manuel Marrero Cruz outlined key areas of cooperation with Belarus as he met with Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko on 17 July, BelTA has learned.

“I am really glad to see you, I am happy that you accepted the invitation to come to Cuba. I think that this visit will demonstrate once again that our countries and peoples have excellent relations. We have a lot in common, we support each other in difficult situations. We are very grateful to Belarus for supplying powdered milk, which is very important for our country; our children need this valuable product. We will continue to work together and do our best to bring our plans to fruition. We have huge potential for expanding economic, trade and financial contacts, we need to move forward,” said Manuel Marrero Cruz.

A month ago, the Belarus-Cuba commission on trade and economic cooperation convened for a meeting in Minsk. The prime minister of Cuba praised the constructive nature of this meeting. “This mechanism is very important as it helps consolidate our efforts and make the most of our cooperation potential,” he noted.

According to him, much attention is paid to cooperation in agriculture, food production, medicine and pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, biotechnology, banking and finances.
The meeting between the prime ministers of Belarus and Cuba resulted in signing a number of bilateral cooperation agreements. They include agreements on the mutual protection of classified information, on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters. A cooperation agreement in healthcare was concluded between the healthcare ministries of Belarus and Cuba. A program of trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation between the governments of Belarus and Cuba for the period 2024-2030 was also inked.
