MINSK, 25 February (BelTA) – Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko held a meeting of the national organizing committee for the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders in 2024 and the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War in 2025, BelTA has learned.
“A little more than two months are left before our big anniversary - the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. During today's meeting we will discuss a number of issues directly related to the celebration of 9 May,” Roman Golovchenko said.

The agenda of the meeting included the military parade concept, the invitation of military personnel of other states to take part in it, the logo of the anniversary, the concept of the celebrations, including a theatrical episode to wrap up the military parade.
“Residents of Minsk, numerous visitors praised the city’s decorations last year, where many new ideas were used, including the immortalization of the memory of the heroes-liberators, military leaders who made a significant contribution to the liberation of Belarus. This year we need to hold the bar high, but without repeating the solutions applied earlier,” the prime minister said. Proposals on the concept to decorate the Belarusian capital were also considered at the meeting.

The participants of the meeting also discussed the organization of an exhibition at the Minsk International Exhibition Center to mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory. “The president has set the task to hold an exhibition dedicated to the key events and personalities of that period, as well as modern achievements of the Belarusian defense complex,” the Belarusian head of government said.
The meeting also considered the issue of awarding the Courage and Fortitude during the Great Patriotic War pennant to Belarusian cities and settlements.
