PM: Belarus has always been a staunch supporter of Eurasian integration

MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) - Belarus has always been a strong supporter of Eurasian integration, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said as he met with Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Bakytzhan Sagintayev in Minsk on 26 February, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus has always been and remains a staunch supporter of Eurasian integration,” Roman Golovchenko said. “We are quite determined to, first, accelerate the processes that are underway in the Eurasian space. Secondly, many of these processes are ‘stuck’ in approvals, interstate and internal procedures, so we need to put them into practice as soon as possible. We have less than two years left to complete the implementation of the Eurasian integration strategy.”

According to him, the member states of the union should speak with one voice against the challenges and threats they face. “We have an economic union, but the economy of our countries is the one to be challenged most today. First of all, this is the economy of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus. Therefore, the issues of further strengthening of our economic ties are more urgent than ever,” the prime minister said.
