MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) – Switching passenger transportation to electric vehicles as much as possible will continue. Minsk Mayor Vladimir Kukharev made the statement as he met with Minskkommunteploset enterprise workers, BelTA has learned.
According to the mayor, the Minsk metro system will be developed and electric buses and autonomous-mode trolleybuses will be introduced on city lines. The production of Belarusian accumulators for these vehicles is under consideration now. Serious work with regard to investments in Minsk will be done this year, the official said. Close attention will be paid to housing construction. Since suitable areas within the city limits are scarce, focus will be shifted to satellite cities, first of all, to Smolevichi where 300,000m2 of housing with the accompanying infrastructure is supposed to be built within 6-7 years.
The Minsk mayor also mentioned plans to develop the healthcare system, the education system, plans to build sport facilities. He also answered questions of the workers.
