MINSK, 24 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia intend to make an engineering development model of the Osvey aircraft and start testing it in late 2026 – early 2027, BelTA learned from First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Denis Manturov.

Speaking about manufacturing cooperation between Belarus and Russia, the first deputy prime minister noted that a lot of new avenues had opened up over the last year. For instance, the advancement of manufacturing cooperation in aviation. The parties intend to implement a joint project in the area of aircraft engineering titled as Osvey.

“We expect we will get a developmental prototype and we will start testing it in late 2026 – early 2027. It is a 19-seat aircraft intended to service regional flights,” Denis Manturov explained.

The official stressed that Belarus-Russia manufacturing cooperation develops in many areas, including microelectronics, mechanical engineering, mutual deliveries in automobile manufacturing and the production of agricultural machines. “It may be easier to say in what regions Belarusian manufacturers are not represented. Everywhere we can see either joint ventures or their own manufacturing facilities. We actively support it and believe that it is a guarantee of stronger and tighter interaction,” the first deputy prime minister of Russia said.

BelTA reported earlier that on 21 May Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Piotr Parkhomchik mentioned Belarus-Russia plans to implement a joint project for designing and organizing the production of a twin-engine light multirole aircraft. The Belarusian government and the Russian one signed the relevant agreement on 15 April. “We work with Russian partners. The work is in the design phase. Respectively we will have the right to make this aircraft,” he said. “We have a solid order from the Russian Federation to make 50% out of 180 aircraft soon.”
