The flight will take the route Minsk-Erbil-Baghdad. The plane is carrying some 400 Iraqi citizens who decided to return home after several unsuccessful attempts to get into the European Union.
One of the refugees told BelTA earlier that tried to cross the Belarusian-Polish border seven times, but failed. He was detained by the Polish police and turned back to Belarus. In his words, it was very cold at the border, and now he has no opportunities to get to Europe, so he decided to return home.
Another Iraqi citizen also wanted to get to Germany, but stuck at the border. “It was very cold at the border, it was very bad there. Poland does not respect human rights. Am I a terrorist? No, I am a person like you. I worked as a journalist for an Iraqi television channel,” he said.
