MINSK, 17 September (BelTA) – Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko took part in a bike ride dedicated to the Day of People’s Unity, BelTA has learned.
The bike ride featuring Belarusian athletes and sports functionaries started at the Lebyazhy water park and crossed the finish line at the Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War.

"Today marks the 85th anniversary of the reunification of Western and Eastern Belarus. On this day, our country got its present-day borders, and this is a very important event for every Belarusian. For the fourth year in a row, in accordance with the decree of the head of state, we have been celebrating this holiday, and each time it takes on new facets and meaning," Igor Petrishenko said. "Everyone should ask themselves what they have done to strengthen the unity of our country and their family. So that we leave a beautiful and prosperous Belarus to future generations."
The deputy prime minister also stressed that the country's sports community has been holding the bike ride on this date for the fifth year in a row. "Our sports family goes out together, drives through the city and lay flowers at the Minsk Hero City monument, a sacred place for every citizen. This is a tribute to the memory of our ancestors who preserved our country. The task of the current generation is to take the country further. We contribute to this in every possible way. Even kindergarteners know the coat of arms and anthem, 17 September and other national holidays of the country.”
