MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) – The decision on whether Belarus will have the Russian medium-range missile system Oreshnik on its territory can only be made by the presidents of the two countries, Spokesman for the Russian President Dmitry Peskov told journalists, TASS reports.
“Such decisions are made by the presidents of the two countries, based on national security considerations,” the Kremlin spokesman said answering a question whether Moscow would agree to deploy the Oreshnik in Belarus if Minsk requested it.
Dmitry Peskov went on saying that Belarus-Russia agreements on security guarantees and the Union State Security Concept imply mutual defense obligations. These documents are to be approved by the leaders of the two countries on 6 December.
