Performance of Belarus' national security system praised

MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – All the structural components of the national security system have accomplished their assigned tasks successfully, BelTA learned from the newly appointed State Secretary of the Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich on 26 January.

The official said: “Today's appointment means huge trust on the part of the head of state. But it may be not so much trust in me as the trust in the Armed Forces. It is a great responsibility and there are a number of new tasks, which I am sure I will manage to accomplish. All the more so because the president has identified and has assigned a number of tasks.”

The official pointed out the importance of the fact that a national security system had been created in the country, which first and foremost takes care of the country's security and the people's security. “Nevertheless, there are some things in need of adjustment,” the state secretary is convinced.

“There is a legal framework that allows us to respond to both external and internal threats. This pertains not only to the Armed Forces, but also to other elements of the national security system and the military structure of the state,” he assured.

Aleksandr Volfovich said that the president had set a number of tasks: “Taking into account the latest developments, it is necessary to think things through, analyze, fine-tune, perhaps introduce some changes to the legal framework.”

“My experience suggests that all the structural elements of the national security system, the military, and the entire power vertical have successfully coped with their tasks. Of course, there is something to correct, something to think about. First of all, these are probably matters related to the management of the entire power vertical whose duty is to ensure that we can localize and minimize all threats - both external and primarily internal ones. Of course, we've faced internal threats recently and it was necessary to make some new decisions,” Aleksandr Volfovich underlined.

The state secretary of the Security Council emphasized: “I will organize my work taking into account these tasks. My efforts will be primarily aimed at coordinating the activities of the structural elements of the ministries of the power bloc, so that we can work calmly in a peaceful and prosperous Belarus and enable conditions for the security of our country and people.”

“Even taking into account the events that are beginning to take place in the Russian Federation, we will work proactively in order to preserve peace and calm in our country,” he said.
