MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) - There have been tremendous positive changes in Belarus recently, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia said as he met with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 6 June, BelTA has learned.
First of all, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church thanked the Belarusian head of state for the situation in Belarus - a country, as he noted, close to his heart. Patriarch Kirill emphasized that he, being a metropolitan in Smolensk, had often traveled through Belarus and visited our country, so he could compare the huge changes that had taken place during that time.

“Huge changes in the life of the country, and not only economic ones, not only in the welfare of the people, but also in the general atmosphere,” he said. “This all has been achieved under your leadership. I think, many things were the result of your creative imagination - what the country, the people should be. All this is implemented for the benefit of Belarus.”
Patriarch Kirill emphasized especially good fraternal relations between the peoples of Belarus and Russia. “The Patriarch is the Patriarch of All Russia, including Belarus. For me this factor - true friendship, mutual assistance - is a very important indicator of what is taking shape in interstate relations. Therefore, I would like to personally thank you and to express gratitude and appreciation to the Belarusian people,” the head of the Russian Orthodox Church said, addressing Aleksandr Lukashenko.
