Passages open to sabotage, reconnaissance forces in minefields on Ukraine side of Belarusian border

MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) – Deputy Chief for Ideology of the Special Operations Command of Belarus’ Armed Forces, Colonel Vadim Lukashevich has described the situation at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border as well as responses to threats, BelTA has learned.

Vadim Lukashevich said: “Tensions at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border are rising. The coalition of Western states has started a hot conflict near our territory. Attempts are being undertaken on their side to get our country involved in this war. In these complicated conditions our country does everything to preserve peace in Belarusian land. We have information that Ukraine is concentrating troops, weapons, and military hardware near our borders. In particular, American infantry fighting vehicles, multiple-launch rocket systems, heavy long-range artillery, and other hardware have been deployed in Zhitomir Oblast.”

The official went on saying: “According to our estimates, the Ukrainian army is not doing well at the frontline. Despite huge losses, shortage of hardware it is moving a lot of personnel and vehicles towards our borders. Why? For what purpose? Military personnel of Ukraine’s Armed Forces constantly engage in PR stunts and say they build defensive installations and mixed minefields at our border. They try to show everyone that they are allegedly getting ready to defend themselves. But we know for sure that safe passages are available in a number of mine barriers. Why have they been set up? For what purpose? They offer the capability to insert sabotage and reconnaissance forces, raiding teams into our territory in order to stage diversions, terrorist attacks on our Belarusian land.”

“Apart from that, we know that Ukraine’s Armed Forces have deployed observation systems of electronic intelligence near our borders. The Ukrainian army makes heavy use of unmanned aerial vehicles. Drones periodically violate the border and fly into our territory. Special operations forces are working together with the border service to cover the state border. They have orders to search and destroy the enemy’s sabotage and reconnaissance forces,” Vadim Lukashevich said. “Apart from that, military personnel are stationed at roadblocks. They stand ready to deploy promptly, move to a designated area and carry out ambush operations. Personnel of the special operations forces are determined to properly carry out assigned tasks. We are ready for any provocations. We are ready to repulse any adversary. The population of the Republic of Belarus can rest assured that units of the special operations forces will do their utmost and will do the impossible in order to defend the Republic of Belarus.”
