MINSK, 10 August (BelTA) – The mango festival “The Flavor of Pakistan" will be held in Minsk on 11 August, BelTA learned from the press service of the Trade Ministry of the Republic of Belarus.
Pakistan is one of the largest mango producers and exporters in the world. All visitors of the festival will be able to taste this exotic fruit.
The festival will be held as part of the official visit of Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif to Belarus. The event will start at 12.30 on the lower level of the Stolitsa shopping center.
As was reported, the Prime Minister of Pakistan arrived in Belarus on an official visit on 10 August. It is expected that the Prime Minister will hold a series of meetings, visit some machine-building enterprises, and hold talks with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko. Nawaz Sharif will also give a brief lecture to students and professors of the Belarusian State University. The Belarus-Pakistan Business Forum will be held as part of the program of the official visit of the Pakistan Prime Minister to Minsk.
In the past eight years the Belarus-Pakistan trade was ranging from $50 million to $120 million. Belarus' major exports are tractors (Pakistan is one of the biggest sales markers outside the CIS), potash fertilizers, synthetic fibers, tires, synthetic yarn. Main imports are rice, styrolene polymers, fruits, foodstuffs, leather products, fabrics and textile. In 2014 the bilateral trade reached $58.2 million. The export of Belarusian products to Pakistan increased 0.3% to $42.6 million over the year 2013; the import from Pakistan totaled $15.6 million (98.5%).
