BREST OBLAST, 12 March (BelTA) – The Air Force and Air Defense Command of Belarus’ Armed Forces registered over 70 violations of air space usage rules and over 70 violations of the state border in 2026, BelTA learned from Chief of the Air Force and Air Defense Command of Belarus’ Armed Forces Andrei Lukyanovich.

Another stage of the inspection of the combat readiness of the Belarusian army involved Air Force and Air Defense Command units. Upon the decision of the head of state they were brought to a certain degree of combat readiness both at their permanent stations and at combat duty sites.
“They completed a march, assumed combat duty, reinforced the air defense system. Aerial units promptly relocated to backup airfields. Air defense missile units also reinforced the air defense system. Radio technology troops deployed an additional number of low-altitude groups (in accordance with the tactical instruction) in order to beef up the low-altitude radar field and ensure control of the airspace,” Andrei Lukyanovich said. In his words, all the steps were performed on a tight schedule.
The chief of the Air Force and Air Defense Command noted that the ongoing inspection authorized by the head of state is a serious exam for any member of the military. “Scheduled inspections are regularly organized upon decisions of the defense minister, the commander. The personnel are ready. Our branch of the army carries out combat tasks every day in peacetime. It is confirmed by the fact that in 2026 alone we have registered over 100 (107 to be exact) violations of airspace usage rules and over 70 (72 cases) of violations of the state border. Our duty forces had to deploy for combat five times. It was real work on the part of duty aviation units and air defense missile forces. Three unmanned aerial vehicles, which represented a threat, were destroyed,” Andrei Lukyanovich pointed out.
Units of the Air Force and Air Defense Command had a live practice firing their weapons on 12 March. State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich kept an eye on the combat work. A couple of Yak-130 aircraft delivered a strike at a target simulating the enemy’s armored column on the march. Then Mi-35 combat helicopters hit a target. A number of targets were placed on the ground posing as the enemy’s personnel in shelters. “Preliminary results are available for now. We’ve visited the targets. I am satisfied with the work,” the Air Force and Air Defense Command chief said. Targets simulating air space trespassers were also hit by Osa [wasp] air defense missile systems.
Speaking about the army’s combat readiness inspection, Andrei Lukyanovich drew attention to several aspects. “The unprecedented level of openness of our country, of our Armed Forces. All the stages of the inspection and the results are covered by mass media practically every day. The public sees, first of all, the professional training of the army personnel. Secondly, the modern technology of our Armed Forces, including new samples of weaponry, military and special hardware,” the Air Force and Air Defense Command chief concluded.
