MINSK, 9 December (BelTA) – As of 1 December 2021, a total of 107,171 deposit accounts were opened for large families under Belarus' family capital program, 24,701of which were opened under the new program designed to run in 2020-2024, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Labor and Social Security Ministry.
As many as 82,470 deposit accounts with the total sum of $824.7 million were opened in line with the previous family capital program that was running in 2015-2019. The program provided $10,000 to large families upon the birth or adoption of the third and subsequent children in the period from 1 January 2015 to 31 December 2019.
As many as 24,701 large families have opened deposit accounts with the total sum of Br568.2 million in line with the program extended for 2020-2024. Under the new five-year program, family capital is granted to large families upon the birth or adoption of the third and subsequent children from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2024. The sum of family capital was Br22,500 in 2020 and on 1 January 2021 it was increased to Br23,737.5.
“As of 1 December 2021, 47,397 families had applied for permission to use family capital ahead of due time. Of them, 41,264 (87%) applied to use the money to improve housing conditions, 2,851 (6%) – to get education, and 3,282 (7%) – to receive healthcare services. The ministry granted permission to use family capital earlier to 45,348 applicants,” the ministry noted.
Most of such applicants are from Brest Oblast – 9,679. Then goes Minsk Oblast with 7,694 families, Gomel Oblast with 7,312, the city of Minsk with 6,431, and Grodno Oblast with 5,124. Mogilev Oblast and Vitebsk Oblast round out the list with 4,595 and 4,513 applicants respectively.
