“As is tradition, a charity event on behalf of the head of state will be held at the Palace of the Republic as part of the Our Children campaign,” said Viktor Dovnar. “A total of 2,370 children from across the country have been invited to the main national New Year’s celebration. They are aged 8 to 14 and come from socially vulnerable backgrounds, including those in foster care or who have lost their parents, as well as children who have excelled in studies, sports, or arts. In keeping with established practice, children from Russia will also take part.”
In addition, more than 330 of the country’s top students will attend the New Year’s Ball at the Palace of Independence, including university and college students, school students, and cadets.
“Traditionally, events under the campaign will be held not only at the national level. New Year’s celebrations are planned in every regional center, with balls and holiday greetings organized for children in boarding schools,” the Education Ministry representative continued. “For example, in Minsk Oblast, the campaign will be launched by the Lighting the Stars arts festival. Participants will include students from preschools, general secondary schools, vocational colleges, and extracurricular institutions, competing in categories such as Vocals, Musical Performance, Choreography, and Literary Creativity.”
