MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) – An interstate operation took place in the Commonwealth of Independent States on 17-18 March. Law enforcement forces were mobilized to search for people wanted for criminal offences, missing persons, and other persons of interest, BelTA learned from the Telegram channel of the Belarusian Internal Affairs Ministry's spokeswoman Olga Chemodanova.
Belarusian investigators most tightly worked with colleagues from Russia. Over 60 people, who are wanted in Belarus, were apprehended in Moscow and the oblast. Those are people wanted for thefts, driving under the influence, alimony evasion, military draft evasion, and other offenses. Two people wanted for taking preparations for mass riots were also apprehended.
The number also included 12 people, who are accused of grave crimes and extremely grave crimes. A 38-year-old man, who has been wanted by the Frunzensky District Police Department of Minsk since 2007 on rape charges, was apprehended in Moscow. The suspect lived in Russia using forged documents. Modern technologies helped apprehend the fugitive.
A total of 106 people implicated in criminal offenses were apprehended in the Commonwealth of Independent States on Belarus' requests. The location of 23 missing persons has been determined, too.
