Over 100 buses queuing at Belarus-Poland border

MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) – Over 100 buses are queuing up to enter Poland, BelTA learned from Belarus’ State Border Committee.

In the last 24 hours, the number of buses waiting to enter Poland near the Polish border checkpoint Terespol (Brest on the Belarusian side) increased from 65 to 108. The border agency noted that thousands of tourists are forced to wait in buses for 24 hours to enter the country because the Polish side ignores the norms of entry. Over the past 24 hours, the Polish border checkpoint cleared only 62 buses out of the required 170, or 36% of the normal number.

As of 10:00, over 2,560 trucks were waiting to enter the EU. The least number of trucks entered the EU through the Lithuanian border checkpoint Medininkai (Kamenny Log on the Belarusian side). The Lithuanian border crossing cleared only 14% of trucks.

The Polish border checkpoints Kukuryki (Kozlovichi on the Belarusian side) cleared 59% of the normal number of trucks.

A total of 600 trucks were waiting in front of the Latvian border checkpoint Paternieki (Grigorovshchina on the Belarusian side).
Only 55% of the normal number of trucks were checked out.

About 580 passenger cars were waiting near the Lithuanian checkpoints and Polish checkpoint Terespol. The largest queue of 480 passenger cars remains in front of checkpoint Terespol. The Polish border checkpoint cleared 37% of the normal number of passenger cars.
