MINSK, 3 April (BelTA) – The West needs a short victorious war or at least its ghost to resolve its domestic political problems, the independent military analyst Aleksandr Alesin said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel.

The president of Belarus remarked in his inauguration speech earlier that the world is reeling, with one challenge coming after another. “The number of hot spots is increasing. The escalation around Belarus is intensifying. NATO troops are on our doorsteps and they are doing everything to drag Belarus into the conflict,” the head of state emphasized.

According to the military analyst, the West is indeed contemplating a possible military conflict as a way out of the domestic political crisis. “Their biggest concern is domestic policy. This is a consequence of the unfolding crisis in the West. In order to solve their problems, as has long been the case, a short victorious war is needed. Or at least a ghost of such a war, so that it constantly looms and forces law-abiding citizens to easily part with their money, which the ruling elites want to use for their own purposes. For example, for the military-industrial complex,” said Aleksandr Alesin.

The military analyst went on saying that the West may thus try to make Belarus and Russia join the arms race in the hope of undermining the two countries economically and socially. “This is how they hope to achieve their goals: through the destruction of Russia and its disintegration into separate parts, which would then be easy to seize and exploit. I think that this is also one of the most important aspects,” Aleksandr Alesin believes.
